Keegan King, NMYO Director
Keegan is from the village of Diit’tseama in Acoma Pueblo, Keegan’s introduction to the organizing was through a racial justice organization called Circle of Voices. Later as a member of SAGE Council he worked to stop the construction of a commuter highway through the Petroglyph National Monument, a holy place to many tribes in New Mexico. He worked as a political organizer for AFSCME and as a campaign manager for the Albuquerque based consulting firm Soltari. Keegan brings his experience in campaign strategy and the values of the social and environmental justice movement to his work with New Mexico Youth Organized.
Cyrus Gould, NMYO Outreach Coordinator
Cyrus has been a member of the League from the start is the Outreach Coordinator of the NM crew. He has helped coordinate all of the election events since 2004 including Slam Bush Poetry Slam and handles field work and design for the League. In addition to organizing political events, Cyrus is a seasoned promoter that has put on the annual Breaking Hearts b-boy battle and Next Level events. A co-creater of the successful New Mexico Electronic Music Festival, Cyrus always put a progressive spin on the parties he creates. An extraordinary organizer and promoter, Cyrus is committed to positive change in the state and dedicates himself to the work of social justice through political organizing and service work such as mural projects and break dancing clinics for young people.
Juan Reynosa is a native New Mexican who grew up in the southeastern town of Hobbs, New Mexico. He is a third-generation Mexican-American and his parents were involved in political organizing. An Albuquerque resident for the past 6 years, Juan graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2006 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science. Since then he has worked with various organizing groups, including The League of Young Voters (now New Mexico Youth Organized), Environment New Mexico, and the Progressive Voter Network. He has collaborated with many different youth organizers on various issues, including environmental, social and ethics issues.
Amanda Manjarrez, NMYO Field Organizer
Amanda Manjarrez is a native New Mexican, originally from Socorro, NM. She graduated in 2007 from the University of New Mexico with a B.A. in Philosophy and Criminology. She has extensive experience in youth programming and was a volunteer and chair member of Community Experience, a student based community service organization, for nearly three years. Amanda brings leadership experience, a love for politics, and a commitment to promoting social justice issues in our community and our state.
