Green Jobs

NMYO’s flagship program is our Green Jobs for New Mexico Campaign. Working in conjunction with Green for All (www.greenforall.org), our goal is to make “green” workforce development the focal point of economic development initiatives in our state.

New Mexico has the opportunity to create pathways out of poverty and change the way we provide energy and jobs for our people as we transition from jobs in mining and oil refining to jobs in solar, wind and biomass. Our Green Jobs for New Mexico Campaign believes in:  

Good Jobs in a Green Economy – We need to restructure our workforce around good jobs that respect workers. These jobs won’t pollute our planet and will support an economy in recession. Green jobs will also attract new businesses with high wage jobs to New Mexico.

Innovation, Incubation and Investment - We must invest in new technologies and industries that follow a sustainable business model and develop a skilled workforce to support them.

 

Equity for Working Families - The promise of green jobs is that through our collective work, we can clean up our planet and at the same time lift people out of poverty through careers in meaningful and high-wage jobs.
